Special Strength Development for All Sports

CONJUGATE SYSTEM

Why a Strength Coach

There are always two ways of training, a correct one and an incorrect one. A strength coach will know how to train smarter, not harder. You need a strength coach that understand what type of strength you have to train depending of your sport.

My Objective

Hi everyone! My name is Adrian Matei , and welcome to my webpage.

I am a Strength and Conditioning Coach and I want to teach you  what I learned, practice and applied over the last 15 years with my students about human movement and performance.

I see myself as a teacher concerned with organizing and optimizing movement to maximize physical performance without injury . So I put together for you an all-encompassing training system that covers all the elements of human movement.

This is, an intelligently structured strength and conditioning program that gives you full range of motion in your joints, limbs and tissues and the motor control to express those ranges and the ability to do so under actual physical load, metabolic demand, cardiorespiratory demand, speed and stress.

My objective as a Coach is to provide to my athletes the most complex training programs for special strength and restoration methods plus the correct volume and intensity zones to use and when to implement them throughout a multi-year plan. This is the resolving system commonly know as the conjugate system.

I am combining diverse functional movement disciplines like  powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, strongman, gymnastics, running mechanics, jumping, throwing, swimming, rowing, biking and many others covering pretty much the entire spectrum of positions and movements that the body can adopt. That means that every movement performed has a transferable application to sport and life.

Conjugate System

The Conjugate System was first experimented with in 1972 by the renowned Y. V. Verhoshasky at the Dynamo Club in Russia. The most successful weightlifting club in history, Russian Dynamo Club, experimented by rotating 25-45 special exercises, to avoid accommodation, with great success. Thus, the Conjugate system was born. Fast forward to 1982, Louie Simmons, founder of Westside Barbell coupled the Russian Conjugate and Bulgarian systems. After that time the Conjugate System has played a great role in the development of high-skilled weight lifters and athletes around the world. When done properly, it causes training to be controlled : optimal, energy sources, maximal, trainability, periodization, and evaluation.

Because strength is measured in velocities, you must train all three during a weekly cycle: explosive strength (fast velocity-jumping speed strength); intermediate velocity (75-85% speed strength and strength speed); and slow velocity max-effort. This system has managed to combine three methods (accumulation, intensification, and leading into transformation) into multiple three-week pendulum waves.

When most people look at the Conjugate system training protocols, they automatically think of powerlifting. But the truth is that the Conjugate system is used in track and field, football, soccer, basketball, wrestling, volleyball and additional sport programs at all levels, across the globe. From the NFL to the Hong Kong Rugby Club.

Five major rugby teams from Europe and Australia have trained with this system and have since achieved phenomenal results. Countless sport programs, along with Pro Boxers, MMA fighters and wrestlers/grapplers have used the Conjugate system to produce speed, explosive strength and reduce injuries.

The Conjugate System for Sports program that I use is completely based on Westside Barbell training methods and protocols. It is  for all sport programs, male and female. Coaching you, you will find detailed scientific explanation of the methods used, for in-season and off-season programming, weekly, monthly, yearly and multi-year programing.

The Rule of Three for Young Athletes

DSC09695.jpg

Children need to be nurtured early to succesfully travel the road to athletic champion, and I feel confident that I can help athlets , parents and coaches gain a better understanding of what that journey needs.

The Rule of Three is a term coaches in former Soviet Union used for the general physical preparedness (GPP) training for boys and girls from 7 to 10. To succesfully participate in sports today, it is extremely important for all children in this age of group to develop coordination, flexibility, general strength, endurance, hand and eye coordination and the ability to perform athletic feats.

Sports Nutrition and Hydratation

Cooking Eggs

In training I want for my athletes a constant evolution , and one's diet should be as well.

For competitive athletes having the right nutrition and hydration protocols in season or out season is as valuable as the training.

I believe more that an highly controlled and measured diet is the quality of the foods and the cooking processes that an athlete should use.

Individuals should always eat foods that are in season in their area, knows what supplements are beneficial and which they actually need. As well as how much they actually need and when to ensure ingesting the highest available nutrients.

Restoration and Recovery

Are you missing range of motion in one or more areas of your body?

Do you have an achy joint that’s causing you pain?

You know what you need to do to fix the problem ?

I was fortunate enough to learn and receive mentorship from one of the best in his crafts Dr. Kelly Starrett. I learned from him both , different types of techniques to resolve pain and recover athletes from their  injuries but as well I've learned technique too optimize athletic performance.

From Dr. Aaron Horschig i could learn different methods of how to build a stronger foundation and fix injuries trough stability and compensatory exercises.

Another critical aspect for recovery and restoration that I use for my athletes is cold/hot exposure and breathing techniques.

The combination of knowledge just helped me as a Strength and Conditioning Coach how enhance the physical performance of an athlete without the need of others professionals.

Running Technique

There are far too many injuries in track or any sports that involves running. They seem to be so common that many think they must be part of the routine.

I found two components to get better on it, one is the POSE Method Technique for Running that Dr. Romanov administrates and the other one by getting the athlete stronger and faster by doing general exercises to help increase technical skills and other abilities by rissing a lagging muscle group such as hamstrings, calves, or hip and glute muscles.

Success Stories

"I enjoy the focus on proper technique and the strength and conditioning program. It’s the best I’ve experienced and it’s helped me get into great shape."
